Wearing a face mask is more important than you think
With the global Covid-19 pandemic surging to new heights, there is mounting evidence that wearing a face mask is a lot more important than you may think.
There have been numerous studies and mounting evidence that face masks help to stop and slow the spread of the Novel coronavirus. Many argue that a face mask is not for your own protection, but for the protection of others (so that you do not spread the virus to others).
However, a recent theory from Dr. Monica Gandhi, UC San Francisco professor of medicine and medical director of the HIV Clinic at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, says that masking can lead to less severe symptoms in the unfortunate case that you do contract the virus.
"Breathing in a small amount of virus may lead to no disease or far more mild infection. But inhaling a huge volume of virus particles can result in serious disease or death."
Makes sense right?
In addition, we're seeing far less cases of Covid-19 in Asian countries. Although there are many variables, in countries like South Korea and Japan, wearing face masks are a normal part of daily life. Common sense tells us, the spread of Covid-19 in these countries has almost come to a halt, most likely due to wearing face masks.
